Origins

As is common to populations that inhabit areas near the Equator, a significant number of Bequians suffer from various eye conditions from long-term exposure to the sun that can lead to impairment of vision or blindness. There are no ophthalmologists offering consistent eye care services on the island. Limited eye care is only available on the island on St. Vincents, which can be difficult to access and travel there takes time from work or school. Moreover, if surgery or other complex services are required, the cost of those services interferes with receiving care.

Our board-certified ophthalmologist and experienced support team will volunteer their time, skills, and knowledge for crucial screening, diagnostic, medical, surgical, and preventive eye care services to meet the critical needs for the Bequia population.
